Tharks are a tall, four-armed race of slate-colored men found originally on the world of Barsoom. They were considered uncultured and barbaric, much like Orcs and goblin kind of many worlds, however, when the Galactic Federation arrived, many Tharks undertook the adventure to the skies and joined the intergalactic community.
Tharks are one of the species that arrived on Mystara in the distant past on the USS Denathix, a hundred years before the USS Beagle.
The engineers of the Denathix, managed to trade with local Orc tribes to gain metals they needed to repair their ship, guarded by their Thark soldiers.
Denathix now floats in the skies of Mystara with its citizens. The Tharks mostly stay onboard.
A Warrior’s Culture
Tharks have a strong code of honor to which even their Jeddaks (kings) must adhere. On the other hand, they have a long bloody history with many tactics used that would be considered immoral by lesser species.
For many years, slavery was a major industry for them, capturing the lesser races of their world and forcing them to work for the Tharks as farmers and laborers.
Thark Traits
As a Thark, you have these special traits.
Creature Type: Humanoid
Size: Large (about 10~13 feet tall)
Speed: 40 feet
Life Span: 80 years on average
Ability Score Adjustments: Strength +3, Constitution +1.
Large Form. You have Advantage on Strength Checks. But do not fit in most buildings or dungeons due to your size and get claustrophobic if forced into them.
For every minute you must succeed on a Wisdom Saving throw with a DC of 10 + the number of minutes you have been inside so far. A failure means you must leave immediately or panic.
Powerful Build. You have Advantage on any Saving Throw you make to end the Grappled condition on yourself.
Menacing. You gain proficiency in the Intimidation skill.
Savage Attacks. When you score a critical hit with a melee weapon attack, you can roll one of the weapon’s damage dice one additional time and add it to the extra damage of the critical hit.
Languages. You can speak, read, and write Denathix Common and Thark. Thark is a harsh, grating language with hard consonants. It has no script of its own but is written in the Denathix script.
Telepathic Speech: Tharks have slight Telepathic abilities, which allow them to communicate silently through telepathy. They are unable to use this ability to probe other minds.
