So almost a year ago, my daughter made this random little game on a piece of paper to play with her brother. The rules were the same every time, but she would draw up new boards each time.
When I noticed this she and I sat down and she taught me her game. It was based around a video game they play called Minecraft. And it was a standard snakes and ladders type game where the monsters on the board could kill you.
Intrigued by this I asked her if I could help put one together for her that she wouldn’t have to draw each time. So I designed a set of shuffle-able tiles that can be used on the table instead.
In the end we designed a whole game. The goal is simple: the first to make it to the last space wins.
At the beginning of the game everyone starts with 3 hearts. Different monsters can take hearts. Some spaces give you item cards to help you on your way. And if you die ( lose all your hearts) you go back to the last bed you passed.
We have played it as a family many times, but now I would love to share the game with you. Please feel free to download the files and print them up to play with your friends and family.
The pictures are from our Alpha version. I had to rebuild the game’s digital files, putting all original art in. And 3 characters to play with drawn by my daughter Sammy in case you don’t have Minecraft Lego men to play with.
