Donkey

Yesterday I taught my family the card game “Donkey” and I thought I would post the rules here.

Donkey is a card game that is best for 3 or more players. Is you have 5 or more players you may wish to shuffle 2 decks together.

Each player starts with 10 cards in their hand that the can see.

The dealer flips the first card in the deck and places it in a discard pile. Starting clockwise, each player must place a card of the same suit of equal or higher value to the to card on the discard pile.

If a player cannot place a card of the same suit of equal or higher value, they must pick up a card and lose their turn.

If a player has picked up a card, the next player may player any card they wish. The player contues with each player matching the suit and of equal or higher value.

Play continues. If a player has no cards, they are finished and play continues without them until only 1 player has cards. The last player with cards is the “Donkey” and must deal the deck.

When dealing cards, the donkey starts with 1 more card than they started with last game. (So if you are the donkey at the end of 3 games, you start with 13cards next game).
